This week we will be starting our unit on asking for and giving directions in Spanish.  After years of searching for materials to help with this topic, I finally gave up and made them myself.  I am excited to use our new map activities to help my students master all of the modes of communication.

Many of the activities we do in the next couple weeks are centered around these two maps that I created.  I printed and laminated them since we will be moving things around and writing on them with dry erase markers during the activities.

We will be using them to review directional phrases (al lado de, a la izquierda de, etc.) which SHOULD be a review from Spanish 1 and adding in the new goal of being able to give walking or driving directions.

Some of our reading and listening activities are focused on reading or hearing descriptions of where different buildings are located.  My students will be able to recreate the map as they listen and read the information.  Other reading and listening activities focus on getting from one point to another and students will be able to follow my directions by tracing the described route on their maps.  Here is my 3-year old giving the map a test run.

We will be using the same map during the second week of our unit when the responsibility of giving directions aloud and in writing is passed on to my students.  Here is a sneak peak of just a couple of the activities we will be doing.
