I have a couple of classes this year where my students really struggle with the memorization needed when learning verb endings as well as the synthesis of the endings with what the verbs mean and who they talk about. Most of them are juniors and seniors that just want to fill the 2 year language requirement and have little interest in the language itself. My goal for them, on the other hand, is to help them build higher-order thinking skills that can transfer to other subjects AND help them think about language in a new way.
So, I created some Color by Conjugation puzzles. I like that they present themselves as something familiar and not intimidating, but require a lot of thinking. Basically, instead of the puzzle containing numbers, it contains conjugated verbs. They will have to really look at those verbs and examine their endings to do the coloring correctly. When they are done coloring, they will have to go one step further and tell me what the verbs mean, demonstrating that they understand not only the meaning of the verb, but how the ending indicates a particular person.
